Frequently asked questions

Isn't the EU health card (EHIC) enough?

It helps a lot in the EU, but it's not enough: it only covers state healthcare — not co-pays, repatriation, luggage or cancellation. Outside the EU it covers nothing. Repatriation alone can cost tens of thousands of euros — that's why you need insurance.

What should I watch for with skiing or extreme sports?

Most basic policies do NOT cover ski and extreme sport accidents — you need a separate rider. A helicopter rescue after a ski accident can cost thousands without cover. Always tick the sports cover.

Should I buy single-trip or annual insurance?

If you travel more than 3 times a year, or your trip is 30+ days, an annual policy is almost always cheaper — and you're covered without arranging it each time. For two or three short trips, single-trip wins.
