Frequently asked questions

What is ETIAS and do I need it?

ETIAS is the EU's new travel authorisation — for visa-exempt NON-EU nationals entering the Schengen area. With an EU passport you do NOT need it. It is expected to launch in late 2026 / 2027, cost around €20 and be valid for 3 years.

What's the difference between an ETA and an eVisa?

An ETA (e.g. ESTA, UK ETA) is a quick electronic authorisation for visa-exempt travellers — done in minutes to days. An eVisa is a real visa applied for online, with longer processing and more conditions.

How far in advance should I arrange it?

ETA: at least a few days before departure. eVisa: 1–2 weeks. Embassy visa: weeks, sometimes months — with an appointment.
